IGNITION HT LEADs

Hi Bob, good to hear from you - is that the lovely black PD you had in the garage?

For lights I'd run a fused live from the battery via a switched relay using the pilot light feed as the switching circuit. That way all the load is going through a dedicated loom just for the lights.

Yep it is the very same. Its a superb example in fantastic condition and not been messed about with - hence my reluctance to do so other than attach things that can easily be taken off again. Yes I'm getting the load via a relay directly from the battery. Agree, it's a good thing to have a separate loom. When you say the pilot light, do you mean the light on the dash showing the ignition is on? I'll have a look at going in there again. Seem to recall its not that easy on a PD and requires a bit of dismantling. But hey. I've got time these days :)

Cool, that is a lovely bike!

No I meant the small light in the headlight - I can't remember how it looks on the PD but is usually easy access

Arcing of metal cap

You may notice arcing in very wet conditions if you use the metal cap.

HT lead rating required will depend on ohm rating of coil ie ensure your HT lead will be able to handle the load.

I prefer to use waterproof spark plug caps and heavy duty HT leads but my after market coils are operating at 7ohms.

No spark no bang so beware of false economies
