For about a week or so now I've been experiencing what must be an ignition switch problem. I did a quick search and most ignition problems seem to be EWS related. I'm not getting any EWS warnings. The symptoms are, when I first switch on the ignition in the morning 'nothing', blank display no lights, although I'm sure I once seen a brief attempt at the lights coming on. Switch off, on, nothing. Repeat a few times, nothing. Leave for a minute or so and then it works OK. The bike is always on the centre stand with the side stand up.

It's sporadic but seems to occur whenever the bike has been sitting for a while, i.e overnight or when its been sitting all day at work. It does seem that it's now becoming an everyday occurance though. :blast The ignition works fine once it's up and running and I can stop and start as much as I like after the initial failure.

The bike is due a service next week and I'm hoping it will last till then. I havent tried my spare key yet so I'll give this a go tommorow and I'll phone MC and tell them the symptoms. Anyone else had a similar fault? :nenau I'm guessing the ignition barrell (EWS ring?) is no longer for this earth. :mcgun

I had similar, seemed that I had to use the alarm "off" button on the keyring then it seemed to work OK.
Seemed to be on damp mornings and only occurred for three days or so and has been fine since - or at least has not occurred again.

Used a GS-911 device to check the ZFE and all other controllers for faults and none were shown.

Will be interested to know what your outcome is.

Cheers CityBum, I'm not using my alarm atm. Due to the keypad not being waterproof, my failure to manage to take it with me in my pocket, and my place of work being 100% safe from thieving scum :D

I'll pop the keypad in my pocket tommorow and see what happens :thumb

Must get a GS-911 :cool

i had problems like this- except sometimes my EWS light came up, sometimes it didnt- i was advised to try using the plastic key that was supplied with the bike incase the key wasnt talking to the EWS ring- ended up getting recovered by mondial to my dealership to have the whole immobiliser replaced, apparently it just failed... thank god i was at home at the time! too many electronics i would say

Im with citybum on this, changed from alarm coming on automatically to using the keyfob, since then when it's damp i get nothing on the display, turn it off then back on again and the alarm will de-activate then up comes the display. If I use the fob first it comes up straight away
