Ignition Switch

I have a 2007 GS and it has recently developed a strange condition. If it is left overnight, the first time I put the key in and turn the ignition on, absolutely nothing happens, no initial checks just nothing. If I switch off, take the key out and put it straight back in and try again, its fine, the initial checks start ok and the bike starts.
It then works fine for the rest of the day. if I then leave it overnight its the same thing. anyone any ideas whats going on?
It does have the new 247 aerial ring, everything else is fine, battery etc

The micro-switch in the ignition is on the way out. Mine did exactly the same thing.

My 650 twin wouldn't switch off using the key

Parts were replaced under warranty in about 30 mins, and yes it was a separate item.
