Dear All
I've scoured the site and not found the answer to this.
I've got various accessories attached to my 2011 GS Adventure, some of which are powered via plugging into the accessory socket.
The accessories with internal rechargeable batteries (e.g. cameras) cause the canbus logic to switch off the power feed after a while. I guess it's detecting the accessories are drawing too much power or are connected for too long.
I originally connected them to the accessory socket just because I couldn't be arsed to set up relay type connections.
So I bought a PDM60 power module to fix the problem anticipating I'd just tap into the accessory socket under the seat for the ignition trigger (for the PDM60) that enables the feeds to the connected devices.
However, I use an Optimate charger and normally plug this directly into the accessory socket to charge the battery. It fools the canbus into opening up the circuitry so it can charge the battery. Very convenient. But of course, if I use the same accessory socket (or another one), the PDM60 will switch on the connected accessories when the Optimate is plugged in.
You might say, re-program the Optimate and use the lead for direct connection to the battery. But I can't find the lead that they supply to do this! Doh.
So I need a trigger feed from the ignition - perhaps the rear light, headlight or somewhere. BUT I've had a really good look at the headlight, rear light and other places (even the ignition block) but I can't really see where to break in.
The trigger feed needs to be active when the ignition is turned on.
Can anyone give me some advice on the best place to get a trigger feed? (sorry for the long post but it'll save effort in the long run
