Just replaced starter motor and battery on't bike. It has now started to fuse on the ignition wire (A previous owner added 5amp fuse) does anyone have a clue whats wrong.

If fuses when starting the bike from cold, I have tried a bigger fuse, but that has blown too. I dont mind riding round with a pocket of fuses, but would prefer a proper fix.

Thanks

Simon

I think the clues in the starter motor being replaced. Have you trapped a wire in the cover?

What bike/Year? might help to point you in the right direction.

1989 R100GS. It was Andy Meltons old bike who then sold to my mate.

I dont think I trapped anything, but will have a look.

It worked okay once installed then last two times of use has blown the fuse.

I understand the fuse from the ignition wire is not standard and has been installed by previous owner.

I did wonder if the starter was throwing more power, it is a motorworks valeo type as was the last one.

Thanks for reply

No cables trapped or nipped.

cheers
