Picked this up Friday
2004 Dakar with less than 4000 miles on the clock, single cylinder twin spark model, took it over to Jimmy Ellis and let him have a look see, will be handy for one or two trips I have in mind for it "down the road"

Thanks Kamikaze, been looking for something along the lines of this for a while now, only bought it home tonight soon as the rain died down, an absolutely miserable afternoon down this way, got a bit of a soaking during a deluge on way home from work on the Trumpet earlier, should spruce up nicely with some tlc during the week

oh and ignore some the comments on other forum saying they give trouble

they dont and with good servicing will last few hundred k

Appreciate the advice, spent an hour or two cleaning it up after work today, lifted the seat and it was dirty enough, a BMW rear case was included, small, Jimmy said it may just about hold a helmet, not tried yet, sprayed most of the bolts, spokes needed cleaning too, don't worry about the slagging, ive got enough over the years, time to give it back, ill slag any bike owner (in jest of course) I did a lot of research on the model before buying it, was considering others like WR250's, XTZ660's, Sero225 and even an 800XC like I had before, Jimmy's advice on that made sense "why did I want two similar expensive bikes for"
Id still like to have the KTM 1190 R though but will have to wait a bit, considering top/bottom engine bars, better bash plate, sensible luggage, auxiliary lights and possibly a center stand, all in their own time

http://shop.touratech.com/engine-guard-for-bmw-f650gs-f650gs-dakar.html

their frame and engine guards are good price for touratech stuff when compared what charge for other bike

panniers headyduties (think they are do similar crash bars as touratech so check them up)

as for lights, ebay, google 10w cree spot work led. you will find some nice slim led light and get them in spot and flood beams for under 35e pair

i had planned on centre stand but never fitted one. very handy though

go onto f650.co.uk forum get great advice and sales

That's a nice example of a very capable machine :)
Goods one are getting rare... Enjoy

Thanks for the link John_Aero and to the rest of ye for the kind comments, its secured with two large locks, its in its new place of residence, the front room in the house

They are great bikes, run on air!!! easy maintenance! i sold one for small money last year but it was v neglected, small mileage and spent its life unused in a garden, shame!

Aon/Axa charged me 25 euro today to insure it for the duration of this years policy, happy with that, yea, they are supposed to be reasonable on petrol too, wont be long finding out

Nice one Cha, well wear :thumb
May we expect it to have knobblies on when next we see it ? :D

Thanks Jokser, was considering knobblies but have backed off in favour of a pair of Anakee 3's this time, its a long way from here to the Atlas mountains and they should be up to the light trails that I am capable of traveling on down that way :-)
Thats if I ever get out of France, Spain and Portugal this summer, any plans for travel yourself?
Moved the bike to the garage after bringing it to work today, those heated grips are a godsend

Hepco Becker centre stand available here if you ever want one . Best of luck with it . Looks very clean .
