Lovely juberly. My ex FIL had both an S7 and an S8 which I used to ride back in the late 70's. Is it an S7, but in black, rather than an S8 which from memory had the thinner wheels and the Ali silencer?

An S7 by the look. Love those inverted levers at the ends of the handlebars.

It's an S7. The S7 was made between 1946-1948, they were available in any shade of black you liked! The S7Deluxe was produced from 1949-1956 as was the S8.

All the S7Deluxe's were Mist Green, quite similar to look at when comparing to the S7, although virtually every part is different! The S8's as you say Littleade slightly 'lither' and more sporty, smaller wheels and front forks, and an Art Deco alluminium silencer. They were available in Black or Polychromatic Grey...

Thanks for the insight, he restored both himself and the S7 was indeed mist green, though I can't say if it was the deluxe or an S7 he'd decided to paint green instead and as it's been nearly 50 years ago I don't have the devil in the detail you clearly posess (y)

Looks like it was indeed the deluxe, though the DVLA show it as being black so someone else must have repainted it after the FIL sold it. Here it is with my A10 in the late 1970's

I love bikes from this era when there was no established ‘correct’ engine configuration.

Manufacturers just doing their own thing. 👍

Did you know there is a mini supercharger from some scooter or other which fits neatly on them.
