I'm not happy with my 1200 GS/A because...

BMW scheme insurance three times as expensive as Honda.

You said the Honda cost you £500 less to insure than a GS? Was that comparing the Honda scheme with the BMW one, or is that what you got after getting several quotes on both bikes? I ask because I just got a quote from Ebike for both bikes (based on a new 2008 model, no extras) and they came in at exactly the same price (£155.40) for both bikes.

Got some pitting on my rear wheel after about 1500 miles.

My last GS had already been split in two for repairs at this mileage, so things have improved!!!!

...........but I AM happy with my GS - so I guess I shouldn't have posted here - still, it will make TEKKY happy :D:D

I am not happy with my 1 year old 12GS 'cos it's cost me about £2000 pounds in petrol since I got it in March '07

And I may go out tomorrow and use another twenty quids worth

(Yes I do like it)!

The last owner of my 12GS said it was the worst pile of crap he ever owned!

2 final drives & a replacement g/box.

I must admit in the 14 months I've owned the bike it's been the best bike I've ever owned! I've toured France & Scotland on it & only suffered a puncture. I guess the previous owner, Gufter69 (Geoff), sorted out all the faults then passed on a great bike.

I met the previous owner at Hartside. He did have a chip on his shoulder. Glad your bike is fine. :thumb2

Absolutley love my ...................................

Did you get quotes from other insurers to see if there was such a vast difference in their premiums for the 2 bikes?

Yes - they usually came it reasonably close (with the BM about 10 to 25% more) but the honda scheme was a result

Cheers

I am not happy with my 1200GSA because......

I am not happy with my 1200GSA because......there are times when I have to stop riding, get off, drink, pee, eat, sleep. The other times though are ........:D

;) Well I found it very difficult to move the thing backwards so just bolted another engine on the back.........works a treat!

I have had to add another Telever to the back for reversing so that it doesn't dive....

I am not happy with my 1200GSA because it needs cleaning again!!!! I probably spend more on castrol greentech than I do..... 20:50.... she hardly ever needs oil toppin up. :) Is 20:50 the right oil?:augie

I am not happy with my 1200GSA because......

Everytime I look down the cylinder heads they're not in-line. Bloody design team. :D Could this have happened cause I dropped it? I then went and fitted a K&N Filter and it now goes like stink. Bastards could have told me this 2 years ago when I bought it!. I'm gonna put a complaint in cause they didn't fit Remus Headers as standard. I mean WTF!:spitfire

So I picked mine up last Saturday (July 05 bike with 500 miles)... and it's great! Rode it over a large chunk of Hampshire, Surrey and Sarf London yesterday/last night and I even thought the lights were good :hide.

I've got to book it into Autobahn for a service - so I guess that it could all yet go horribly wrong. But I believe that BMW sell 2000 GS's a year in the UK - there are always going to be a few problems. Fingers crossed!
