Why not?
Because the build quality, probability of problems and level of service (all parts of service) after ‘serious’ engine failure is below acceptable. Other issues which have meant lost riding days and even problems with their branded accessories. This is personal experience with a new bike.
Mate also had a 1290 (dont think the 1390 should be better..) which he successfully rejected. Engine failure again... KTMs answer for the dealer to sort out, as parts were out of stock, remove the parts from another bike that they held in stock and KTM would…sort something out!
Dealer and KTM politely told ‘no thanks’.
You have been warned.
Edit.
To add, without going too far in depth, I had half an engine replaced, after a long wait. Is that what you want? Or.., a new engine? This after dropping a valve, damaging piston, head etc.? Then hope that there has been no bottom end damage due to fragments of metal or debris partly blocking an oil-way (now or later..)
Find something in the BMW or Ducati range would be my recommendation. Even 1 year old, three years ‘useful’ warranty would remain on approved used. Yes, issues can and do occur. But you should not end up stuck with a bike worth pennies that is nearly impossible to get rid of without taking a huge financial hit.
KTM are continuing to mess people about with warranty work, dont believe the bullshit from journalists who should really have our interests at heart, and not the next freeby coming their way.
