I'm Wingin' It

We scoff in the face of safe parking….. preferring to leave it euro style parked on a pavement somewhere..

Just had breakfast here in the guest house in Chinon .
No photos as the owner is a bit paranoid having had two attempted break ins.
The breakfast spread was unbelievable even including individual Le Creuset pots filled with stewed apple slices.

This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed in, and I've travelled a bit.
Will definitely be back with wife.
If anybody wants a few days in Chinon then Au Relais Saint Maurice will blow you away.
Bookmarked👍thank you

That’s me done and in St Malo.

Only about a mile to do to ferry home at 0800 tomorrow. I should be home and parked up on the drive by 0930.

1410 miles since I left home a week ago.So that’s 1400 trouble free miles 😜
The mighty Wing behaved itself , apart from giving that pesky KTM a thick ear 🤔😜
It was equally at home traversing cols as it was sat at speed on the occasional bit of dual carriageway.
Averaged 52 mpg which I think is pretty good.
She’s a brilliant bike. The temperature gauge once warm never shifted from three bars, and I rode in temperatures ranging from 3 to 26 degrees C.
Never heard the fan come on .
Brilliant handling for such a big girl, sublime DCT box and all day comfort with zero buffeting with the short screen fully up.
Apple CarPlay not once failed to work and I used MRA 90% of the time and Google Maps the rest.
I was gutted that chasr got injured , but at least it was 10 miles from home and not in the Pyrenees.
I hadn’t planned on a solo trip, but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
I generally rode about 170 miles per day, sometimes a tad more or a tad less and usually finished riding at 1530-1600.
This worked a treat as gave me time to chill out before 🍺 o’clock.
Must be my first solo trip for 8 years or so.
As much as I would much rather have had Rob with me, there are benefits to being alone.
You can eat and drink when and where you want .
If you wake early then you can leave early-this worked a treat getting to Argeles Gazost as an 0630 start meant I beat the only forecast rain of the trip.
Who would have thought that you could have a week away in early October and not encounter rain.
The last few days have meant a chilly start with temps in single figures but rising to 18/20 by midday under blue skies.
Parking the bike outside was a novelty on half the days but I made good use of my locks and chain and even covered it up one night.
The new Alpinestars airbag vest was brilliant and you just didn’t know you had it on.
I rode without earplugs this morning as was just pottering along the Loire.
Was interesting that when I put my Custom Fit plugs back in, I had much more base and virtually the same volume, so no reason not to use them even when pottering .
I saw many bikes but only 2 Brits all week. I guess many have their steeds SORNed 🤔
A brilliant find (by Rob) of the Au Relais Saint Maurice in Chinon. Best meal of the week there too at Fauve.

Staying in my usual Hotel de La Cite again here in St Malo.

Then I’ll probably go to have a brilliant pizza at usual place.

So a great trip despite the setback at the start.
Looking forward to the next one in February.

ME, I knew you can tour in October. I took Honda’s ultimate tourer ( the ADV 350 ) down the RDGA starting 1st October 2023. Went across the cote d Azure for a couple of day then back via route napoleon, then up the west side of Lake Majjiore. Up the old road on the gottard pass. Switzerland and Schwarzwald then back home.
11 days and it was great. 2500 miles, 30 degrees most days. A real laugh. Especially when folk on ‘proper’ bikes told me I can’t tour on a little scooter. 😅

Cheers

I do like that Goldwing of yours.....Unless I win the lottery I am unlikely to ever own one. A shame about your pal though.....

Yeah, it's probably the best bike I've ever had .
Must have been mad to consider selling it a while back.
No reason why I can't keep riding it for some years yet as the forward and reverse creeper move makes it very manoeuvrable. And the weight is kept very low.
