Image aspect ratio change?

Why are all my images being squashed all of a sudden?

I grab the code from Flickr at 1024 x 768 but that's not how they're displaying in my threads here??

I write the post and preview it, all looks well, then I submit the post and it gets altered somehow?

So much so that I've been told it's becoming a trend in my posts

Glad it's not just me . They always look squashed like widescreen in reverse ......last few threads have been the same.

Chris,

It seems you have a set maximum width, but not height. If I use the cmd/- keys to zoom out, the pics get to their correct aspect ratio at about 100% (I usually view at 120%).

If you use a PC, download the excellent freeware Irfanview, which will allow you to resize pics (and much else besides). Make sure you tick 'Preserve Aspect Ratio" or whatever the option is. If you then use this to resize to 800x600 pixels, they should be free from squinch...

Can't give you a step by step as (unfortunately) Irfanview is not Mac-compatible...

Thjt works better, but if you zoom in it has the same problem. Try zooming in on the pic in your first post and then the one I copied and hosted on SmugMug in my first post - one distorts and the other doesn't...

It's not your fault Chris.....I've not seen a single shot with odd proportions. (same as Herr Schtum, I see your OP pic as 1024 x 683)

I reckon it's all the pansies with their iMac crap
