This is quite scary.....I have a Kryptonite U Lock that I use to attach bikes to the Iron Grating outside the house If I ever leave one outside for an early start......I won't be using it any more after seeing this though.......HAven't tried the trick yet 'cos the and is really crudded up from being down the drain for so long but WTF!!!

It's not a wind up or dodgy clip.......seriously.

Makes you think doesn't it!!

I spose it's the plastic deforming and driving those tumblers home........I wonder if it works on other barrel type locks!!

Saw a lad with a gun type lock pick (specially designed for the round key type locks) undo a disc lock in less than 5 seconds at the NEC a few years ago.
He claimed that it is what all the new crims were using.

Bit scary when my bike was using the same type of lock outside in the bikepark. I purchased a Victory disc lock the same day.
My lock went in the bin when I got home.

...and back up the list

For those that don't read Ride, as well as topless pictures of Matron (well, sans helmet anyway :D ), Kryptonite are offering a replacement for any barrel locks about which you are worried.

It's a register, get a return number/mailing voucher, return your lock, and wait... system. The form to register your locks is here.

I've got three of them, none younger than 5 years old (well they work and keep working) and all three of my models were on their list in the form at the bottom of the page. It looks like they have recognised that they have a serious image problem if they don't put their hands up to this one and replace any that people are unhappy about.

More than can be said for Oxford who got 70 of my english pounds last year for a new lock.
