I have been sent this, make of it what you will:-
From 1st Jan 2007 ALL systems sold for 2007 model machines in the after market have to have a Cat Convertor in order to carry a 'road legal' stamp. Noise is no longer the only criteria for the law applies - it's called Euro 3...............
If an exhaust is fitted it must carry a cat......... or be marked ''not for road use''
There are a few ways around this on certain bikes. Models that have 'modular' systems that share the headers with race and road legal systems can be deliberately mismatched.
i.e we put a set of RACE (non cat) headers with the silencer that is intended for the road legal (with cat system)
The result is a system that carries the necessary markings on the silencer (because the silencer is form the cat system) but the headers are from a race system..........
HOWEVER................
This is only possible where Akrapovic make separate headers available to us and on this model they DO NOT allow that..........
So............officially..............We can supply a RACE system - WITHOUT A CAT or a Road Legal system WITH a Cat.
HOWEVER....all of the above is a total waste of time really.......... because Akrapovic (in their wisdom) have made the system so that the Cat is an INSERT into the link pipe and simply can be forgotten - or chosen not to be fitted or included - it's a doddle but basically they have made a farce of the above rulings by making it a optional insert.
It really would have been easier if I'd have just said "fit it without the Cat".......... but I wanted to give you the full explanation.
