Weekend in France, all good, Zumo 550 wonderful. Washed bike on Monday with gentle jet wash including Zumo mount with rubber cap in place. Zumo now has erratic faults displaying errors such as "This device is not supported" and going into diagnostic mode. On the Zumo forums website this is a well known issue and Garmin apparently send out replacements however I've been told to send the mount (not the unit mind, i.e. they know what the problem is) in for "repair" (Special delivery, my expense). This weekend I was due to go off-roading in France again - seems less likely now without a GPS. :spitfire:spitfire:spitfire

I didn't know there was such a thing as a gentle jet wash...:augie

Gentle as in I was careful not to use pressure on that area. Others on the Zumo forum website have had similar issues in rain - light and heavy

Get a map.......seems a bit strange that people let broken technology hold them back:blast

I take your point. It certainly won't ruin the weekend but I was in a rotten mood when I realised the £300 odd quid unit is 3 weeks old and clearly the cradle isn't fit for purpose. Perhaps they were designed by the same people who make BMW's Fuel Pump Relays? :thedummy

Happened to me with a hose pipe :o

Take it of , dry it out and apply vaseline to all conectors :ymca

PS .... stick a plastic bag over it next time you use any high pressure hose on it ......... :rob

Guys,

On the back of the zumo mount there is a little rubber cap, under this cap there is a mini usb connector. My zumo showed the faults you all describe and I found that when removing the rubber cap the usb connector was filled with water! After drying it out all was ok. I have now filled this usb connector with vasaline and haven't had a problem since.

You took the words right out of my mouth  anyway, looks like there is hope (with a touch of vaseline)

I took the mount apart last night and all looked normal - it even worked partially on the way home but it also stank of an electrical fire! RMA today. Will update here with any news. Upshot is - plastic bag next time it's washed.
