Can anyone tell me whats involved re the headlights , can they be adjusted or do they need changing ? also the digital readouts in kms , is it a software change or is there some secret set of keypresses or jumper settings, cant beleive it would need total replacement , any ideas

Headlight is fine, just dip it by rotating the little knob at the back prior to inspection. Speedo must have "major numerals" in MPH, those more knowledgeable may advise further.....

Speedo must have "major numerals" in MPH

If it is like the SVA for cars, yes the major numerals need to be in MPH - this meaning 10, 20, 30, etc - not the most prominent.

My Canadian Mustang had the outside figures in km/h and the 'inside' ones in mph - a bit useless really for telling what speed you're doing because it could be anywhere within 10mph, but you soon get used to doing the conversion in your head (or a GPS gives you an accurate reading).

They haven't done anything stupid on bikes yet that they do on cars - the instrument panel on the mustang was 'coded' to the ECU, and if you changed the instruments, you needed to re-program the ECU - at least I don't think they have!

on a gs its just a blank flat ldc display , the kmh or mph are also displayed on the lcd, my guess is that the option is already in the control computer system somewhere .

Don't forget it'll be fitted with the BMW Siesta pack - it shuts down from 1pm to 4pm :D

Hi neighbour...well almost :)
i was hoping to find some local gs riders, but sounds like your on your way to "ol' blighty" soon. :(

mate of mine took his bike back to UK, had to change lights and speedo (not digital) cost him about £650 :eek , dealer supplied and fitted parts and also did paperwork, might be an idea to call local dealer to where you are taking it and get a quote if you haven't done so already.

btw, pm'd you.

How are you doing Orbit? Don`t tell me you`ve flogged your low mileage R1150 :eek:!

If you bring that 1200GS-A into the UK, watch out for Renault 25`s pulling out :hide but the good thing is, most of the muppets over here do have insurance!

Changing the light housing

My information is that you will have to change the whole headlight housing. I was looking at the problem in reverse by bringing a bike into Spain from Australia. The housing is a definite. They are specifically made right hand drive or LHD The speedo, I don't know
