Thinking about importing my French registered 2008 X Challenge into the UK.
Anyone got any idea of how to go about this?
Do I need to change the headlight etc, I think that the speedo will change to mph at the push of a button.
Any advise gratefully received.

Hi i am looking for an x challenge at the moment, they seem quite hard to come by here in the uk, both new and secondhand, could you tell me if they are more readily available in france and any ideas on what price a good second hand one goes for
thanks

Bikes are generally more expensive in France, especially the way the £ is at the moment.
A 2008 X Challenge in France is going for around £5200.
I am thinking of selling the bike before I leave if I do decide to go back to the UK as I don't think I will sell it for that much in England.

I might export mine back to France when I come to sell it! When I bought I was getting 1.48 Euro / £, so now at 1.13 Euro to the £ I I would eradicate most of my depreciation hit.

When I bought it it new in 07 it cost me £5565 in UK money due to the favourable exchange rate.

I reckon sell yours in France ( but keep the bling! ) come back and pickup one here in the mid £3k's and put yer bling on that.

But if you do want to bring it with you my post is here:

I actually didn't change my headlight but I reckon they will spot when it comes for an MOT.:augie

I was going to try and keep mine on French plates as I come and go from France fairly regularly and we have a place down in the Charente, but the insurance costs was too high.

In France the best I could get was €420 / yr in the UK £93.00 !

Just one extra point worth noting.

If the bike is less than 6 months old you will be required to pay VAT on the purchase price.
You can however reclaim the VAT from the country it is exported from (if you paid the VAT in that country).

Can make quite a difference if you buy secondhand
