By inserting a .typ file with updated graphic objects into the map directory on the PC one can change the graphics of roads, etc, in City Navigator.

Here is how the standard version of City Navigator 2009 NT looks on a Garmin 278:

cn09brown.bmp

And this is the version I have created with the intention to increase the contrast between roads & background:

cn09white.bmp

My .typ files for City Navigator 2008 NT and City Navigator 2009 NT can be uploaded from here.

The tool I have used to create the .typ files is here.

Slowing down things? What do you mean with "things"?

I have not noticed any significant change in drawing speed on my 278. I may be slower but if so I haven't noticed. It's important to switch off all other maps and have only CN active. Neither have I noticed any speed issues with Mapsource related to using .typ files.

Mapsource versions is a different issue. Forget using 6.14. It's slow and it doesn't work properly. I have both version 6.13 and version 6.14 installed but I use only 6.13 for all maps including City Navigator 2009NT.

I is a problem that when installing CN2009NT the hopeless Mapsource 6.14 is also installed but it is (obviously) possible to reinstall 6.13.

And regarding the previous thread - it was my intention to continue on that thread but I couldn't find it.... Anyway the archive with typ-files refered to above now contains typ-files for Swedish Topo, Spanish Topo, Lithauian Routeable Topo, Turkish CN and several versions of City Navigator Europe.
