Improveing Twin cam performance,advive

Having tired the Hilltop remap - personally, I'd opt for the PC V and matched map option - but would probably add a full system first.

Looking at the cost of the above, I'd probably sell up and add a small amount for the new LC bike - you will not get the same power or benefits adding tuning and bits to the twin cam.

I'm going to stick to my Twin Cam for the next year and enjoy it - maybe next year I'll swap for the LC - but for now I am no longer chasing any more torque as the twin cam doesn't need any more to do what it does well - the little additional you could get out of the bike is vanity - but smoother fuelling is always going to feel better.

What is the collective opinion about cam advance wheels. They boost mid range at some loss of top end. To my mind that's a worthwhile trade-off, but are they any good?

I have a TC which has had the Hilltop re-map, this definately smooths things and makes most difference at the top end.

BUT the mod which has made the bike really nice to ride is a cable-tie, suitable thinned down, placed and glued in the groove of the throttle pully. This speeds up the throttle action and makes the whole package so much better.

I just love 2bob fixes ,so I done this little modification this morning.

Let you know what I think when I get beck this afternoon.

Funnily enough, although there may be some smoothing after the remap - I find absolutely no difference at the top-end, when compared to a non-remapped twin cam, similar age and similar mileage.

Not being a technical or performance guru I thought I'd turn to the folks on here for some constructive or otherwise advice.

My thinking so far is..

I don't know, Steve. Being old enough to have started on an Airhead I find my R1200GS's performance absolutely incredible the way it is. For most of us the biggest performance gain for going faster would probably be to improve what's on top of the seat rather than change things underneath it. The cheapest way to gain power is to simply downshift and spin the motor at it's peak. At this point, utilizing all 100 hp these engines put out, how often is it that you are still wanting for more power?

Casting no nasturtiums, that is. Once rolling there are many a sports bike rider who's fallen by the wayside to my GSA. The only thing I have done is fitted an accelerator module which smooths her out no end and kept her absolutely spot - on in the throttle body dept.
