Improving the sound of the twin pipe akra

I ground and chiseled my one out - lot of effort! Has it made a huge difference, no not really - but got the black widow headers to fit so that should do it! I agree with the vid, if you want a louder exhaust not worth the effort to take the baffle out of the akra, just go buy another brand!

Uh, the black widow headers does make a big difference... The downshifts on that is to die for 😍

Have a vid on that if you want to see a step by step guide:

Cheers!

You gave me anxiety when you were swizzling the exhaust on the seat! I kept thinking “he’s going to mark /damage the seat” 🥴😂
Great content again.
My last two GS’s suffered with flappy valve issues, both sorted under warranty. On my last GSA 1250 it went twice and in the end they just replaced the exhaust under warranty.

Haha, nah... It's all good, I made sure I wasn't putting any sharp edges, it's lights enough 😁

I did have issues with it in my 1200 and I had to out a lot of elbow grease on it to get it to free up. Very easy to forget all about it.

Cheers lad!

I’m considering the BW down pipes with the standard exhaust for my gs1300. I did something similar with my 2019 Hypermotard. I have termigoni down pipes on that and kept the standard cans. It was way loud with termi cans too so stuck with the standards and it is just perfect. Bonus point is if you bet pulled by the old bill, they only see the standard cans.

Downpipes will make a huge difference for sure.

But in my opinion, you'll have to get the bike remapped at that point

Cheers!

Black Widow suggest a remap if a fault light is on the dash - why do you suggest a remap?

Just my opinion, if you're going to go with a set of headers a remap will give you the full benefit of it.

I have the black widow headers, I didn't have any issues running it without mapping, certainly not a requirement but it does make sense to do it.

Yes I agree. I had to do that with the Hypermotard. Had it done properly by Pro Twins in Surrey and it was so much smoother too. If I can get a similar result with the GS, I’d be delighted. Thanks for video.
