In case somebody cares MOTORRAD put a new 1290 SADV-S through the test...On the dyno the KTM made 158 hp where the BMW made 135 hp ; 23 more top-end hp 1600 rpm higher for the KTM which translated into 9,6 vs 12,5 sec 0-200km/h. Also top-speed which they take the manufacturers claim is probably 220 vs 250 km/h.The BMW makes slightly more torque 140 vs 137 nm which translates into faster roll-on 60-180 km/h the GS beating the KTM ; 9,9 vs 11,6 sec.
Also the KTM is slower steering than the GS but probably has more high-speed stability.
Which tells me up to 100 mph/8000 rpm the KTM or Ducati have Nothing on the GS the Gs even being a hair faster and less "shifty" as also the best handling/quickest steering on backroads.At speeds above that the GS is toast or you have to buy a S1000XR which is considerably faster than either Ducati or KTM or simply wait for the M1300GS...
