Anyone know a trustworthy in-ear monitor specialist - I recall there was one a few years ago that the guys talked about, the name leopard springs to mind but could be my brain cells dying off?

I have just fitted a Sena R10R system to my helmet but the speakers aren't the best. I have bought a pair of headphones and will attempt to "cut & solder" / replace the speakers. However, I hear (no pun intended) that in-ear custom moulded monitors are the way to go.

Anyone know of someone reputable?

Thanks

Bob

Green Leopard I think it was. Micky on here (Mick Wheeler) took over the business. Send him a pm he will be able to help .:thumby:

No need to cut and solder: Sena make a plug and cable for ear buds/monitors, that just plugs into the wiring loom in place of the headphones. About £15 I think

Ultimate Ear aren't a million miles from you, Orpington. I highly recommend their monitors. They aren't cheap but they reduce noise far more than the disposable plugs whilst still letting the right frequencies through for you to hear a vehicle come into your blind spot on the motorway. Sound reproduction is excellent too and you can hear phone/music clearly at very low volumes which is good for your ears instead of being blasted by external speakers. I suffer from tinnitus so don't compromise on hearing protection.

Alternatively get the impressions done at a local audiologist and send them to UE

So do I.

There have been some customer service horror stories on here but there have been just as many if not more highly satisfied customers.

The quality of the monitors is exceptional. Attenuation is very good and music reproduction excellent. Very comfortable. I have worn them pretty much Monday to Friday on my commute for the last 7 or 8 years. Big thumbs up here :thumb

If they work great, if they dont your fecked. :nenau

I've repeatedly damaged mine, breaking wires etc. and the service I've received has been superb every time.

I swore never again with UE as my original monitors kept getting split cable insulation, however I bit the bullet recently and got a new pair from them and the quality is miles better. I think they now have a product worthy of the price, unlike their older product.

From my past experience with them their warranty is worthless. Using BMW Bluetooth now with a 2 yr warranty I know my dealer will honour.

I have a pair from alienears.com that have replaceable cables, been through a couple of cables over the years. Great tunes on or off the bike and comfortable for hours when riding. Wear them every day.

I've visited Mickey Mansions today to get my in ear monitors made, and Mr Wheeler assures me I'll get them before the weekend.

Looking forward to giving them a whirl as soon as they land!

I have had the duocoms for nearly 8 years and occasionally had them checked out.
Acscustom.com. Used to be based in harpenden but are now based in Banbury.
