Away in France this last couple of weeks, towards the end of last week I suddenly find that I can't get mail (Yahoo) on my iPad AND iPhone :blast

With WiFi I can get iMessages and connect to Safari OK (log on to Yahoo Mail through Safari) but on the normal connection through Mail on the iPad/iPhone all that comes up is 'Cannot get mail, can't connect to server'

Meanwhile 'Gracie' doesn't have a problem on her iPad. Something has changed, not aware I did anything on both the iPad/iPhone :nenau

Any help, tips or pisstaking welcome :D

Hi Mickey

Have you tried logging on to Yahoo through the internet web page. I know its not a fix but if you have internet access you should be able to get at and send emails that way as a temp solution?

If you have the details for the mail account, I'd try deleting it and recreating it.

Micky - delete your mail accounts and then reinstall them on both devices. I had a similar snag with my MacBook a couple of years ago and that cured it...

Sorry Mickey should have read your thread better I will go back to sleep, but if its on both devices it sounds like your account settings not your device

Woke up in a crackin' hotel 'Hotel du Normandie' in Conches en Ouche :thumb

Yes, thanks for the advice folks, will wait until I get home (weekend) to delete and re-install. Managing OK on Safari.

Wish you were here :augie

I know it well :thumb2

Good one eh Wappers :thumb

Oh, while I've got all your undivided attentions ... why does my iPhone battery only last a couple of days most (when not being used)

Should 'we' turn off the notifications? I don't leave any programmes running, always flick 'em off after use. Anything else that might be ticking away in the background eating battery life :blast

Cheers folks ... now in Brugge, ferry Friday.

Bluetooth connecting to sat NAv may be your problem there but in Honesty 2 days out of an I phone battery is good going any way

Bluetooth and the fact that if it's constantly searching for a wi-fi network or even a 3G cell it'll use battery power. However, it also depends on how old it is. By the time my old iPhone 4S was two years old, the battery was pretty knackered. My current 5S is about 18 months old and it's not holding a charge as long as it once did, either.

Apple siphoning off your bank balance? :D

:yikes:yikes:yikes

BlueToof on but not connected to anything ... my Bose speakers are hundreds of miles away ... turned off now, let's see if that makes a difference eh :thumb

Thanks chaps ;)

Simple. Change the battery then. I changed it in my iPhone 4 and it was only about £12.

Micky,

If your phone normally spends most time at home or near wifi signals this uses far less juice than when your on the move all the time and the phone is having lots of mast discussions to keep it connected.

Its even worse in very poor signal areas. My phone works great normally but on a campsite in Cornwall with poor coverage it kills the battery as the phone continually is trying to maintain a network connection (at the batteries cost!).

Looking forward to some French pics - hope you have the 100T with you.

Safe trip :-)

You might have a program thats using your location all the time. Is there an icon top right of the screen like an arrow head? If so is it purple or black? If its purple that means there is and it will use you battery quicker see below pic which hopefully shows how to check and turn off the requisite one. Have you got data roaming turned on?
