I bought my 06 GS new in May 07, in Malaysia from the local BMW importer. Now 2 years on we have covered 30,000km and barely a missed beat.

I had a battery go after 8 months, replaced on warranty. I havent used any oil, still on original brake pads, and believe it or not the original tires as well. The tires are seviceable, and have warn evenly, still within UK legal limits but will get changed at the second service that is due this month.

I get 48 mpg, mostly crusing at 75-90 mph, and twisty country roads. I'm a mature rider, so I take care of whats around me, so ride carefully, but with 33 years of experience.

So far I have no costs for spares at all, 1,000km service cost about 80 pound, and the 10,000km service was 85 pound. I have added oem paniers that I got second hand for 230 pound, and a laminare lip which was about 65USD incl. postage from the US, (but only marginally help with the noise..)

All in all a great bike, and utterly reliable.... touch wood.

Mine never failed to proceed either, a few little niggles, but it has always completed any journey asked of it over the last 4 years and 38,000 miles (60,800km).

There have been a lot of knockers of the 1200, but it is far and away the best GS ever made. :D

There hae been a few knockers on here (however you want to take that!) that have whinged. In honesty most of those are the

brigade.......:augie

My point being that, the number of knockers is comparitively few to the numbers sold (which is huge) so in all a very small %age. For a bike that since its inception has been one of the fastest selling bikes over 1l, and the best selling BMW recently I believe you'll find that the majority of owners are as happy as you, and incedently me....... ;)
