We broke down on the D940 near Le Touquet this afternoon.

Called BMW rescue services (where would we be without mobile phones).

Disappointed that I had to wait 2 hours for the French recovery truck, but other than that he did an excellent job.

BMW rescue services booked a ferry (we had missed our Eurotunnel booking), arranged for a recovery vehicle to meet me at the dockside in Dover and a taxi to take us home to South East London.

BMW called multiple times to check everything was organised correctly.

Very impressed. :clap

Not sure where my bike is now, I may get to see it again next week, but I am not sure if I want to :mcgun

Much encouraged, I met somebody who'd renewed the warranty for 2 consecutive years and it seemed a bargain and he'd had multiple parts replaced due to corrrosion etc in the meantime- mumbled something about the cost shooting up now though, to no longer being worth it.

Warranty renewal

By an amazing coincidance I just got a warranty renewal £659! - has it gone up then?

Any comments on experience/value?

Agree about the BMW service when abroad and breaking down. Back axle went and they managed to get me and the grandson home very quickly using taxi to Airport, two flights home and a taxi waiting at the airport for the final trip home. This was all done in one day.

The bike was transported home and repaired at Rainbow

Excellent service by both. :)

BMW Rescue

Can't say enough about the service we received. We broke down in Vienna and the BMW dealer there said we would need a new gearbox! 1200GS is only six weeks old. Anyway it would take three days as the gearbox had to be brought in from Germany. We were on a tour to Turkey, so the others went on and we said we would catch them up in Istanbul. Unfortunately my husband contracted a terrible eye infection whilst there, the hospital said he couldn't ride for at least a week. Three days later the bike was back in one piece but we couldn't take it out of the workshop. I rang the helpline and explained the situation - no problem we will sort out getting you and the bike back home. All they needed was a medical report from the hospital. which we faxed over to them. We were booked on a flight, leaving that afternoon and the bike would be brought back asap. Great service thanks.
