Just come off the phone ordering bits from them and realised what good service I always get from Motor Works. Darren spent some time helping me out with a couple of issues and I've just remembered a couple of years ago there was a problem I was having with my brakes which he couldn't help with, he said he'd find out and he did call me back with the answer half an hour later.

The thing is, so often, when you order something over 'tinternet you speak to somone with neither knowledge or interest, ordering from someone like Motor Works makes it all so much easier.

Cheers, Darren. :beerjug:

Yep. Me too. Seems stupid but its far less expensive in most cases to get stuff set out here than to buy localy. On the odd occasion that I grace the local BMW store, they don't have the bit I need in stock and suggest I try motorworks if I need it quick. I've been out here for 7 years now and they have never mucked up a delivery or sent the wrong part.:thumb

Hello,
I have a project I've been planning for a while and was going to source parts from Motor Works. But they have stopped shipping to the states for some reason. They'll ship to seemingly every place on the planet with the exception of the US??

Does anybody know why they did this? I am looking for an Emerald Isle Alternator as well as a number of other things. They have a great price on the Alternator £210.

Do you guys know where else I cold source it for around that price in Europe? I need to order some Keihan head pipes as well and Motor Works had them both.

Have you tried Sherlocks (link at top of page)? They state that they ship worldwide and they have the various Keihan pipes in stock.

You could use my address in the UK to have Motorworks ship stuff to.
I'd be happy to readdress it and ship to the US for you.
Does mean you would have two lots of postage to pay but i guess it all depends on the savings you can make.
I take it Beemer Boneyard cant help you?.

Motorworks won't ship to the States because the cost of product liability insurance is prohibitive if my understanding is correct!

I bought a cheap R1100RS off e bay with 90k on the clock.

it had been overhauled by motorworks 3 years ago.

one of the best value bikes I've bought.

Went straight to france/Germany/Nurburgring - 1200 miles and was sweet as a nut.

Pretty good testimonial:thumb

Les,

A lot of your fellow countrymen use motobins who do ship to the states. Apparently many parts are cheaper than the states even when the postage is taken into account.

Thanx, I looked them over and am looking for the Emerald Isle Alternator "mainly". I didn't see the Keihnan's, but I'll look again.

Looking for the Alternator at UK priceing. I thought about getting someone in the UK to help me, but I would then have to pay VAT :eek

I hear ya, that's what they told me as well. But if you look at where they do ship, it is truly amazing! I find it hard to believe that the US is a bigger liability than the potential market. I'll bet there's a story there... There's places on their shipping list I wouldn't ship to.

I wish Motobins had the EI Alternator! The markup in the US is pretty serious. I am going to make a big order to Motobins.

Thanx for the input and help guys.

Great Forum you guys got here. I bought some Pistons, Cylinders and a CAM from Ritchie Moore from here. Haven't put them in yet, still collecting parts!

Richie did my Cylinder heads and fitted his one piece valves and trick guides. Very nice job he did too.

Isn't the EI alternator the same as the Omega one sold by motorrad elektrik?

Yeah...

I got no problems with a guy makin' a living mind you. I just wonder about why there is that much difference with both companies making a profit.

If it wasn't for your VAT, I could probably get a local to help me out. The VAT adds about £58, then 2 postage's and then I'm closer to Motorrads numbers, and at that point I would get it from them. Plus Rick is a nice guy and very helpful, I've bought stuff from him before.

Seemingly, the USA is the riskiest place on the planet to ship to! Who woulda thought that! If I had known that I wouldn't be refusing bids on my Ebay auctions from those poor folks in Italy!
