I'm only too well aware that SPC have had some bad press, but then again most people only put pen to paper, as it were, when they're pissed off and not when things have gone right.

Yesterday the chaps at SPC spent the whole day bolting on all the shiny new bits to repair my bike following a GS on GS accident a few weeks ago. The proncipal cause of the delay, it weems was in getting a new rear subframe from Germany.

Anyway, I left SPC to trog up toe bike meet at Alton Station (which attracted 17 traffic coppers in cars and on bikes!).

Anyway, the bike felt a bit rough with loads of backfiring going on. As they'd just jetwashed the bike, I assumed that some water may have sneaked in to some electrical bit and that it'd get better after everything had got nice and warm on my ride home.

Well, things didn't get better.

Went back today to ask what had happened. Chap went out on my bike and came back to tell me there was no problem. Now this is the point where you begin to doubt the evidence of your own senses.

So, I started the bike and holding the throttle to 3000 prm, I watched the tacho waver between 2500 and 3750 rpm. I took it for a short blat and the misfiring and hesitatancy was still there.

So I went back in to moan at Dean once more, and that was the last I saw of the bike for an hour or so.

Eventually, Dean reappears to tell me that they'd sorted the problem which had been a ferked ignition coil, so the failure was conincidental with their working on the bike yesterday - I had pointed out that it was running quite smoothly before they got working on the bike.

Anyway, the mechanic has also balanced the throttles, adjusted the TPS, and finally discovered the faulty coil.

But, the best bit was that Dean had asked John Gilbride (the marketing manager) about doing a 'deal' and I ended getting the new coil 'gratis' and paying for 30 mins labour for the little tune-up. Seeing as the problem was not of their making, but just one of those things, I've got to say that I was really happy with the outcome - £35 bill instead of a £100 one.

Even better, it was all done with a smile on their part.

(I wonder if you can buy those coils cheaper than at a BMW dealer, though?)

I bet you can ONLY buy those coils from a BMW dealer.

Glad to hear SPC are doing a good job. :thumb
