Hello to you all from another 'newbie'....been skulking around this forum for a few months now and recently went and done the deed and acquired a 2000 1150gs. Delighted with the bike, great fun, but have a couple of queries which you guys may be able to assist with.
1. Is there anybody reasonably local (Wakefield/Yorkshire) who can do independant servicing?
2. Cn anyone sugest cause of a strange clanking noise from the front wheel when setting off from stationary?...Always does it when 1st setting off, and occasionally does it when setting off from lights etc....sounds a bit like a tin can...just a short noise as if when the front suspension uncompress's when the bike sets off?

Thanks for any advice info....

No 2

That's just your ABS setting itself.
(If you haven't got ABS look for a tin can)

PS
Welcome to the world of GSing. If you see a silver Adv around Ferrybridge on any Friday, give me a wave :)

Servicing

You could try "Grahams" in Bradford.
Former BM mechanic with a small shop, specialising in BM work.

Appreciate this is a way off for you, but, independant servicing can be had in Redcar (up Nr Teesside) here http://multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?...=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&zm=1&scale=200000 and comes personally recommended. Done a few bits (re-valve, paralever :gosh work) and other bits
Details below. Nice guy, good work. Father was a police mechanic for years, then set up independant, then with Andy, now Andy on own (sadly father passed away recently)
Also does other bikes, particulary Trials, which he also rides. Hope it helps someone even if to far for your good self.

Thanks fella's

Thanks for the info, will give Paul (the Hondaman) a ring when its nearer the time....18000m service coming up..anyone tell me if this entails anything major or is it the usual fluids/filters replacemnt jobbie.

Thanks again
