Does anyone know a good independent outfit for the above near Birmingham? £350 for 12000mile service seems a little steep!

I'm only replying to this as nobody else has, but my suggestion is not exactly "near Birmingham", it's Roy Gardner Motorcycles (RGM) at Croston , Lancs, which is a one-and-a-half-hour-drive north of Birmingham.
Excellent service for BM's from an independent who is great value for money and is highly valued in these parts.

I wouldn't hesitate to drive from Birmingham to Croston to get my bike serviced properly without getting ripped off.

Oh, by the way, Roy is the ex Workshop Manager at a major BMW dealer before setting up as an independent.

If you're willing to travel south, Mike at Stroud Motorcycles, which is not far off the M5 junction 13, is a real mechanic, with extensive BMW experience.

Can you give me some more info on Stuart Johnsons, I am in Burton so it would be ideal for me. But I cannot find them in a search.

They don't have a web site but Stuart is the son and that number should be correct but you can also try - 07725 735 835
They're on Croxall Road, the other side of the A38 from Alrewas, you have to go past the Arboretum.

It's hourly rate of around £90ph which jacks the price.
