My lovely new exhaust has melted my rear left indicator so I am going to need to fut a pair of shorter smaller replacements to keep them out of the way of the exhaust gas .
Anything i need to know: fitting difficulties, special indicator's needed, odd wiring etc before I go and buy a cheap set from my local non-approved yamaha dealer?

Blimey:eek:, what make of exhaust do you have that will do that.:comfort

You can try NippyNormans (see ad at top of page) you will need a indicator that is CANBUS conpatable.

I'll bite - what's 'CANBUS compatible' then? 'Cos I bet the Yamaha dealer won't have any idea.

Come on:). The 1200GS has a magic :eek:CAN-Bus wiring loom and sometimes it dont like non standard electrical bits being attached to it. so its best to ensure that non OEM indicators are fully compatible with the CANBUS wiring system.:thumb2

Thanks for the advice Yonkyo , but I didn't find what I am looking for , and nor can I find an explanation of the differences between canbus compatible and normal indicators. Less wire's?

The exhaust is a Quill, I just did a search and someone else had the problem also but just took his exhaust off. I would rather find a solution i.e shorter indicators .

Why would replacement indicators cause Canbus problems?. On a traditional motorcycle (or any other vehicle) using indicator bulbs of different wattage to the originals will cause problems. The standard BMW indicators use 12 volt 10 watt bulbs. Any indicator using these bulbs will be fine. The 4 indicator bulbs are driven from the ZFE module which presumably also warns of bulb failures. If you use a bulb of the wrong wattage you might well get a warning of some sort. Iy you don't want to use BMW indicators then T300 series Triumphs used 10 watt bulbs. Alternatively, look through your preferred accessory catalogue then fit 10 watt bulbs to whatever meets your preference for style and function.
