Got a 05 plate. The right hand indicator paddle requires an excessive amount of pressure to initiate. Bit of a pain if wanting to give a quick warning of an overtake.

Is this a common fault? And is it easily solved? Perhaps by a quick dismantle of the assembly and dusting out. Any thoughts????

Cheers

I don't know if it's common but mine started like that, then it kept coming on without being touched and then wouldn't switch off. Switchgear was replaced under warranty and that one was faulty, the next one has been OK for several months

Maybe a silly question. Are you pushing the paddle in the right spot? Several people complain that it's not working correctly but are pressing their thumb too far over the centre of the paddle, basicaly trying to press / push the whole switch inwards, a la a conventional motorcycle's indicator switch. A quick flick 'click' towards the outer end is all that it should take.

Have a go and see if it makes any difference, before embarking on the whole, the switch might be broken or dirty malarky. Indeed it might but check the easy bits first.

faulty indicator switch

mine had the same symptoms took to bits and found rubber seal around micro switch perished , cleaned it up vaselined everything up including paddle and it was fine for six months, yesterday it started to come on by itself again which can be damn dangerous so get spannering
