Been playing up for a while, not switching on always..... now its gone altogether...

All other functions of the rhs switch system work fine. Indicator lights also work on hazard, so it must be the switch..

Can one open it up and see? WD40 has not worked and the problem became terminal after I jet washed it last week... Mind you it was iffy for a while..

Any ideas?

Is the bike in warranty?

Yes? take it to the dealer!

No? Then more WD40 - and operate the the switch many times, the problem is almost certainly a dirty/wet switch, but the WD40 has to penetrate right into the switch in order to do any good, and continued operation of the switch helps to remove water/clean the contacts.

This is a known problem (do a search on this forum). I had it on my last GS. Taking the switch apart and dousing everything in WD 40 had no effect alas.
However my dealer did get a goodwill contribution from BM (the bike was six months out of warranty). They paid for an entire new bar switch unit - about 140 quid from memory - and I stumped up for labour, which was not very much.

I have had mine changed TWICE :mad::mad: get the bike down to the dealer as its a well known fault & BMW are well aware of it,

Thanks guys. Will look into it.. Wondering if I could find a used one (ntg to do with money, I just hate paying for OE parts...
