Can the self cancelling indicators be switched off in the bike system as mine do not seem to be self cancelling?

Same here, to be honest I probably haven't given them much of a chance. I wait for a bit and just cancel them myself.

Over what period of time / didtance are they not self-cancelling?

If you sit at a junction waiting patiently for the lights to change, they will stay flashing forever.

If you drive down a motorway and activate then at the three hundred yard marker, you should find that they have self-cancelled before you reach the slip road. I would guess at about 250 / 280 yards.

It's probably detailed exactly in the owner's hand book.

I'd reject it, not fit for purpose!!!

The user manual says:
"The turn indicators are cancelled automatically after you have ridden for approximately 10 seconds and covered a distance of about 300m"

The LC has "Self Cancelling" indicators - I never knew that

All this time I've been dealing with my flashing indicators the old fashioned way :thumb2

I want to know if you can switch off the self-cancelling. Feckin PITA. If I want them off, I'll make the decision, thank you very much Herr Beemer!

Seriously anyone know, can this "feature" be defeaturised?

I believe it can be switched off on earlier 1200s, so I would have thought it could be on the newer ones.

Extending the time before auto cancellation

What you can do whilst sitting on your toilet is hit the turn switch again (left or right) before it cancels and it will extend the time. Try it at a 300 yard marker, hit the button at the 100 yard marker and see for yourself :D

This does not work on previous models of the GS

Yes, very easily with the thumb on your left hand...that's the hand on the clutch side of the handlebar!

Press switch to one side start,... press switch in the centre to stop!

You may need to practice a bit for a start but eventually it becomes automatic! :augie

Sorry... I just couldn't resist it! :pullface
