I've just opened negotiations on a contract for a bit of flying based at Dublin Airport and I'd like to take 'er indoors, the Monkey and 2 dobermans with me. So I'd be looking for somewhere within, say 45 mins on a bike (think V7 CND riding style) from Dub airport. Need some space, dog walking, nice vibes, pub etc but most importantly somewhere to keep an Italian Mrs+10 month old daughter happy.
So any clues to where to start looking please.

If looking for Housing estates look along the coast up from the airport i.e. Rush, Skerries, Lusk, Balbriggan, Laytown and Drogheda.
Or if you want countryside and twisty roads for the bike (but plenty of Potholes which are standard here) then look around Naul, Garristown areas.

All easily accessible to the airport by country roads or the M1 motorway.

www.myhome.ie is a decent property site.
Hope this helps.

Hold off buying for now -prices will drop further; rentals are plentiful and rents are dropping. In addition you get a feel for where might suit you best. the Naul area would be my shot initially - your € would go further there than Howth IMHO. No matter what enjoy. :thumb2

Stinks of Fish.:D

That'll bring back memories.

How pricey is pricey?

How much, if it exsists, for a little 2 bed cottage, with a lean-to for the dogs backing on to somewhere to go walking, and a pub within 20m.

EDIT: Just searched Naul on some Irish lettings site and they want E900 for a 1 bedroom cottage! Is this the going rate? I don't mind a bigger commute if it really improves how far the money will go.

Howth- €650,000 to Lottery winning figures
Coastal towns- €300 to €500,000
Naul/Garristown Depends on land amount and cond. of residence.

www.daft.ie for renting. As stated may give you a better insight of localities and prices are falling with the 'R' word.

Just looked at Howth from 5 km up on Google Earth and all I see is Marina, Peninsular, golf course (I made that up, doesen't look enough room).
Ponceland.
Look guys, I'm used to mud on me doorstep-she isn't but I wear the trousers. I don't mind rural. I don't mind old. I don't mind a commute.
I want somewhere that will want me to stay in Irellllaaand even if I don't.

What the **** have I ****in started? What has a ****in 3rd rate film (documentary in your eyes) got to do with a potential nook in Mickland?

Please explain. And don't stop with ideas for places worth looking at.
