Not all Southsiders have " fur coats and no knickers "
Not all Northsiders are dealers

I've just opened negotiations on a contract for a bit of flying based at Dublin Airport and I'd like to take 'er indoors, the Monkey and 2 dobermans with me. So I'd be looking for somewhere within, say 45 mins on a bike (think V7 CND riding style) from Dub airport. Need some space, dog walking, nice vibes, pub etc but most importantly somewhere to keep an Italian Mrs+10 month old daughter happy.
So any clues to where to start looking please.

45mins on a bike north of Dublin's (Hell's waiting room) Airport would take you near or over the border (V7 CND riding style on the M1) that would get let you include Drogheda and possibly Dundalk for urban living - Laytown for the annual horse race or Termonfeckin just for the feck
An easy run North of the border for shopping would cut your costs

best of luck, just hope that you can avoid the "rush" hours mayhem of the daily commute into Dublin

So what would be the advantages of living North of the border then?

Very Good (practical sensible) suggestions :thumb2

... trust a woman to come up with them :rolleyes:

cost of living significantly cheaper,
no need to re-register bikes and cars,
cheaper bike insurance,
though fuel is cheaper south of the border

You would still be using sterling.
No need to have private medical care.

Here are some sites which will give you an idea of prices etc Dave;

North.

PropertyPal.

South.

MyHome.

Gunne.

You sure about re-registering. I ask because a mate of mine transferred to Belfast with sleazyJet and had to re-register on N.I. plates (loads of z's in them)

house

Take a look at Ashbourne. Cheaper than Dublin (storrrrrry buddd) and near everything. 15 minutes from the airport, 30 from the city centre and 12 from the M50. Nice town with all the usual services and great pubs.

He's spinning you a yarn Dave, you can drive away no bother in the north on English plates.

Cost of living difference

I was listening to a feature on the radio this morning. A guy went and bought some food items in Dundalk then bought the same items in Newry.

Deliberately he didn't buy baby food or nappies. The price differences, as Padge will confirm, are colossal.

Cost of items in Newry = £53.06 stg = €56.78

Cost of same items in Dundalk = €89.56

€33. That's a huge difference on a relatively small shop. :eek::eek:

There was a feature on the Radio4 program "You and Yours" about the same subject yesterday.

Another silly question. Do dogs need pet passports for the Rep. of Ireland?

Think I emailed someone at work recently, only to find him sitting on his arse on this web site

Been going through all the info posted. Cheers so far. Am starting to warm to the idea of being North of border though I'm being warned off the commute. Now I'm used to doing 150mile cross country round trip to Bristol in all weathers, so what's so bad about hammering up and down the M1?

Also looking for some letting agent sites for Northern Republic and Southern N.I.

I've also been taking Irish lessons. Hows this.

Oim up for the crack ye bollocks.
