UPDATE!

Sorry, the M1 is powered from the bike's switched 12v, and you need to pay for updates by subscription. It is a great unit though.

The one I was refering to previously was the K-1 which can be transferred from car to bike, and can be seen here:

Inforad K-1

If used in the car - it can be run/charged from the power socket and if need be on the bike - can use its own internal rechargable battery.
Comes with lifetime updates of scamera sights
Chargeable via USB port or car socket
Velcros to any suitable point on bike/car dash-window

My concern however is the database. The Inforad website is quite coy about this and just refers to "the industry standard" and the "UK's premier datadase"

The only companies that provide 'real time' 24/7 'UK' updates are Road Angel and BTST neither of whom do a bike version of their equipment.

No idea what database they use, but lack of audio - doesn't appear to be a problem - just mount the unit on the inside of your screen, high up - in your line of sight - Stevie Wonder couldn't miss it

yes, well, ok, except that inforad tell me the ki is NOT waterproofed and they do not reccomend it for use on bikes!

Admittedly - it is not classed as waterproof, but there are plenty of places around bike instrument panels that stay dry.

If that is a real worry - go for the M-1.
