Information, please - Three, four or five god quality hotels or pubs - Around the Northumberland 250

So ... her nibs and I took a wee birl around Northumberland yesterday (Alnwick for Barter Books, Craster for kippers and then back to Scotia via the refurbished Union suspension bridge). Rather than come straight home, we stayed a night at the https://www.allantoninn.co.uk/ which I mentioned above. Verdict? Absolutely first class. Our room was very comfortable, clean and easily 3star or better hotel standard but the highlight was the bar (a good selection of beers, wines etc plus friendly locals) and a very high standard of locally sourced food.

If you're looking to do a wee tour of the eastern borders and Northumbria then this is the place. Just avoid the dates of the Jim Clark Rally as all the local hotels will be chokka.

We've no connection at all to the hotel owners. Just very satisfied customers. (y)

Well I can recommend the food here. I haven't stayed as it's only 100 metres from my house.

Right next door (literally) is this; but they don't do food anymore (not even breakfast).

I can vouch for the Michelangelo for both a room for the night and the restaurant. Very good food 👌

Can’t really speak for hotels but a stop at Bamborough is a good call. Excellent empty beach, massive castle, grace darling museum and easy reach to holy island. Likewise craster for kippers and NT Dunstanborough castle. P.s don’t go to Whitley bay, Blyth, Ashington or Amble. Tynemouth is nice but everywhere between there and Alnwick with the exception of cullercoats is best avoided
