Evening all,I’ve a couple of questions,I’m going to put some injector cleaner through the system, the reason is the bike has stud in the garage for approx 6to8 mths,it runs ticks over no problem but when I rev it up, it backfires something wicked,I remember asking a similar question some time back, and the reply was empty petrol tank, put new premium petrol in and off you go,the trouble is I can’t work out how much fuel is in the tank, and how to store it,anyway d’you think i would get away with putting the cleaner straight in the tank and would it do its thing with the fuel,
What cleaner do you fellas use 🤔
Cheers Baza

Looks like you have half a tank of fuel so why not get 3 5L fuel cans, drain sa much fuel as you can (I use a length of clear plastic pipe to syphon it out) then put the old fuel in a car with nearly a full tank if you have a petrol motor. Then add 5L of premium unleaded and try that. I don't think fuel cleaner will help if your petrol has gone off, better to remove it as already advised and put some decent fresh fuel in it. My mate had something similar on his 1st ride of the year on his Kawasaki years ago, filled up with fresh fuel and it solved the issue.

If you put some premium unleaded in your car and don't put any more than 5L of the old stuff in at a time it should be fine as the old stuff will get a descent dilution. Unleaded Petrol has a load of additives to help it burn, these evaporate or go off with time, leaving just the base fuel behind. The Ethanol in unleaded also attracts water too which doesn't help. My Honda mower needs a minimum of 96 RON and won't even start on less than fresh fuel, so I have to drain it off for the winter and put fresh 99 stuff in in spring.

I use clear plastic pipe so I can see the fuel come down the pipe when I syphon it off so I don't get a gob full and put a funnel in the fuel can it syphons into so I don't get it all over the place. Tesco and Esso's premium unleaded is 99 RON, Sainsbury's is only 97.

I've started using the Petrolprices app as the price per litre varies so much at the moment across all fuels. Locally SUL varied between 166.9 and 180.9 per litre today
