I got one of these from "BMWBikeBits" last week and I have been out in some appropriate weather today.
Have a look at the "BMWBikeBits" site for decent pictures of it and a description, the link above takes you straight to it.

I was a little unsure of the method of fixing, it's held on with cable ties, but it went on the bike easily , is really a bloody good fit and certainly seems secure enough.
The main point is -- IT BLOODYWELL WORKS!!!!!

I've just been Sedbergh/Brough/Middleton-in-Teasdale/Alston/Penrith and home in pretty constant rain and clean dry boots. Magic!

I had been riding for about 20 miles in the rain before I gave in and stopped to don my waterproofs, and when I looked at the back of my left boot, it wasn't even wet.

So, a well made bit of kit, that fits well, doesn't look out of place on the bike, and does what it says on the tin. Shame about the cable ties, but I can live with that.
Gets a "Recommended" from me!

Can't see any link you posted!

Went to BMWBIKEBITS & typed in 'inner fender' & still can't see it.

Is this an early/late April Fools? :(

Finally a solution!

Hi Phil

Thanks for your info!:thumb2 At last something that works regarding the spray from the rear wheel:bounce1.Have to order this from Bikebits!

Just cleaning the bike and thinking, as you do.

the shit up left leg situation:-

the rear shock is mounted just to the right of the bike centreline -

the standard shock guard forms a vertical cylinder -

water comes off the back tyre in an arc perpendicular to the rear wheel axle -

the water hits the shock cover and is reflected mainly to the left.

It couldn't have been designed better to shit up your left boot.

I'll shut up now!

Phil

£104.11 for a piece of ABS :yikes

Which makes we wonder, what is the most expensive piece of plastic anyone has seen (or bought) for their bike ?

Talaris - don't think so. I had a Pyramid hugger but it rubbed the tyre, so it went back. But IMO this does a better job of keeping the crud off everything.

A hugger that was very short at the front might fit, though.

Nick - I agree with you, I can't see that money in it, though I s'pose they have to design and build a mould, which can't be cheap.
But yer pays yer money - yer takes yer choice!

Nice one Phil, that looks to be just what I've been looking for.

I've a MC hugger at the moment that rubs the tyres horrendously. IMHO huggers don't look right on a GS and it's only on there for practicle reasons.

Yes, it's expensive but if it does the job.........................

Not wanting to hijak the thread but... :)

Outtomunch: You could try fitting the Continental RoadAttacks. I also had problems with a MC hugger rubbing with some makes of tyre but this has been almost completely resolved now I have fitted the RA's - good tyre too.

That's worth knowing:thumb2 I've noticed that some tyres are worse than others, I've got Battlewings on at the mo. and they are the worse so far.

Was considering Contis as my next tyre too :)

Yes, also had Battlewings :( before changing to the Conti's. The BW which were indeed the worst I have had for rubbing :augie As well as rubbing on the side of the tyre the hugger also rubbed on the offside tread with these fitted - no such problem with the Contis IME.

I've done 5,000+ miles with the spraystopper and it is fantastic as well a being only £50 delivered!

Save yerself some cash and buy the spraystopper

No work on US Bikes

Just found out the Wunderlich Inner Fender won't fit on US spec R1200GS as the charcoal evaporative fuel recover canister is in the way on the left frame side. Bummer. :(

It may be good, but who would have thought that the Triumph "Bathtub" look would come back in fashion. The Wunderlich looks a little more discrete IMHO.
