Sorry if this is in the wrong place....

I need some inners but the genuine BMW ones will cost me just under £200. Although they seem good quality they also seem too thick? What choices are there for this pannier set? Where can I get them from? Are the genuine BMW ones worth buying?

Cheers
Paul.

HEllo,

I brought 2 * Tesco overnight bags for £5.99 each, these fit perfectly for the panniers. For the top box I have used an old small sports bag.

I have just returned from a few days in France doing the V2 rocket sites and Arras, with the missue on the gsa, and the bags were great, they just drop down into the boxes, fully packed.

Out of interest I've looked at the TT 41 and 35 Litre inner bags size comapred to the ones above.

All figures L x W x H in cm

TT 41: 23 x 42 x 37
TT35: 20 x 42 x 37
Tesco: 45 x 24 x 28

So pretty close to the 41 and 35 litre bags for about 80% less cost

This is the way to go. As i have said on a previous thread, buying/having made pannier bags at high prices, you ARE being ripped off. Plenty of affordable and durable bags out on the high street. (which in my opinion are far better value for money than the B*W/TT options)

yes, thoses are the ones ( tesco bags). When I bought the panniers with the bike, I was told that they are not guaranteed to be totally waterproof.
Hmm..well in france last week, it rained for over 3 hours whilst me and the missues were riding, got to the hotel and pulled the bags out. Not a single drop of rain . moister was found in the panniers or top box.

Pretty good I say.
Cannot say how long in the rain before they would start to collect rain though.

Does anyone have actual inner dimensions of the 1200 GSA Aluminium Panniers?

Seems like theres the dimensions for all the other pannier sets in other forums, but not for the 1200 GSA Alumn Panniers.

Another vote for Mane Event inner bags.
I'm on my second set; had some for my 1200GS, recently bought GSA so needed new bags. They fit superbly, with enough space to spare around them for ease of inserting and removing.
May not be waterproof but IMHO they don't need to be cos the boxes are.
Cheers

Try Mane Event, not as substantial as BMW's own but plently good enough and £91 for a full set

Thanks for that, what product numbers should I be looking for?

I bought a bag from Tescos today to try out - not the same as the online ones and it doesn't fit. I think I will get special made bags because the L/H pannier is wierd shape and the special made bag should fit perfect. That said the cost of these bags are rediculas, BMW being the most expensive at almost £200 for the set. at the moment I'm not using my panniers because I don't want to mark the insides.

I'm interested in these bags but the actual bags he is selling seem not to be the complete set for the GSA. When looking at the prices below it looks like the price for a complete set could be near BMW prices?

Before you rush out and buy some cheaper bags - consider this: The BMW bags are waterproof - while your cases might be waterproof now, the seals can detoriate and/or if you drop the bike with the panniers on, it can knock them out of alignment. Either can lead to the cases not being waterproof - which is why you want the waterproof bags. Secondly, the BMW bags come with straps which allow you to mount them to the top of the cases. This is really handy when your other half has bought too much stuff and it's not going to fit in the panniers.

I know they're expensive - but they really are top bits of kit. Buying cheaper alternatives might well turn out to be a false economy.

Just 0.02p worth :thumb2

Has anyone got a photo showing their bags in the pannier next to the exhaust (the weird shaped pannier)? KJD liners don't fill the whole space - I would be grateful to see some photos if possible please of the following bags?

BMW + KJD + Manevent bags please

Don't go to Tesco for bags, Try your nearest pound shop get a couple of laundry bags they come in various sizes and colours. they may look naf but they work, also a smeer of vaseline on the seal will help stop the water.

:mmmm

A cheaper option would be to buy the cheaper liners .. then pack your cloths in large size zip lock bags that you can buy from any leading supermarket. That way you know you clothes will stay dry AND they will pack down smaller :rob

Also ask yourself this ...When will I use them? How often will I be touring in the p***ing weather?

You come across as one of them "want all the toys" types so I think you should just get them :thumb2
but remember to send us a PM when you plan to sell the stuff :augie:D

I have the KJD liners ... but I had an insert made for the lh pannier:

... increases the weight a bit, but works a treat!

I found Hein Geriche sold fairly cheap , generic inner bags in two sizes.

I got some for my 1150 Ali bins and work a treat.

last year's Gericke catalogue. -

Large - 480 x 330 x 200mm(approx) 13.99

Small - 400 x 220 x 200mm(approx) 9.99

So, they're not taylor made for the alli system bins, but you can put stuff in them & they will fit inside the bins. What more could you want?

And to think people will spend over 90 notes on aftermarket ones that are "specific" for the GSA.
