Bumping a 10 year old thread! (Not any more, you ain’t) :D

Planning a trip to California and some National Parks...
Would like to prepare some routes (on Basecamp like I would in Europe) and take my Zumo XT with us to use in the hire cars....
Is it as easy as buying North America mapping and loading it onto my XT/laptop to get same functionality as I do now???
Any advice gratefully received 👍

I have moved your post from the 660 sub-section into the XT sub-section. I had to guess though whether your device is an XT version one or two. I have given it a fresh title, too.

The easiest method is to do just that, buy the US card from Garmin. Do not be tempted to cut corners, buying hooky ones off EBay or even UKGSer, as the cards are most often coded to a specific device only. They will not work, and you’ll have done nothing more than enrich a scammer.

Failing that, look at the very recent posts and threads from the bod who is loading New Zealand maps onto his XT, using Open Street Maps. Your process will be the same for America or indeed, central Africa or Japan.
