only had my r1200 gs te lc 2 months not had much time to enjoy with the weather.. but want to ask question about reading the oil level on the display when I collected my bike the salesmen went through the display didn't have time to take it all in but did noticed that the oil level did show. but now I don't seem to be able to get that back up I'm allowing what the owners manual states.. i.e at operating temp/idling for at least 10 seconds and standing level with side up but when I scroll through the menu I can't seem to get the oil level to show :blast I did scroll though the menu to get certain read outs that I wanted to show by flicking through the menu. thinking maybe have inadvertently have lost it somewhere in the menu if that's possible. As this happened to you? read the manual done what it says but still no oil level show. any advice on how to get this back on my display? would i need to go back to factory settings in the b.s set up. any help would be appreciated:thumb

The 'Low Oil Warning' will only illuminate if your oil level is too low, check the spy glass below the offside cylinder for the actual level.

Can you check the sight glass and get a correct level when the bike is on the centre stand ?

Rubbish!!!

On the TE display when certain conditions are correct eg engine temp, upright etc the display can show "OIL OK" therefore NOT when oil level low!

Have you gone to SETUP in the OBC menu, checked its on BC CUSTOM then gone through the many options and checked OIL LVL is on?

If you read what I put then it is correct, the 'LOW OIL WARNING' will only illuminate when the level is low, I didn't mention 'OIL OK'. I always check the actual level with the spy glass because there is no count down to the low warning.

I prefer to check the sight glass with bike on centre stand. Easy to do and accurate way to see oil level.

In the custom menu (get to it by scrolling through SETUP via the TRIP button until it says CUSTOM, then hold INFO down for some seconds) you can fully customize the top and bottom lines by pressing INFO to select TOP, BOTTOM, BOTH or OFF at each field.

Maybe your OIL LVL OK has been turned off in there.

You need to be stationary to view it, it can't be check on the move

Mine just says Oil LVL ---
It never seems to say ok. Even with the new engine so I'd be intrigued to know what conditions it needs to display ok?

"Oil-level indicator 1 gives you an
indication of the engine oil level.
You can call up this reading only
when the vehicle is at a standstill.
The preconditions for the oil level
check are as follows:
Engine at operating temperature.
Engine idling for at least ten
seconds.
Side stand retracted.
Make sure the motorcycle is
upright.
The readings mean:
OK: Oil level is correct.
CHECK: Check the oil level the
next time you stop for fuel.
---: Oil level cannot be measured
(conditions as stated above
not satisfied).
If the oil level needs to be
checked, the symbol 2 is
displayed until the oil level is detected
as being correct again."

Cheers. Pretty certain I've tried all that and still nothing but i'll check again next time I ride it :)

Hey there, I have a 1250, the oil level just shows dashes.
The dealer has had it for the last 13 days and assured me a software update has fixed it. They had the “OK” in the workshop. 46 miles later still only dashes. How long should it take for the “OK” to appear?
Thanks in advance!!

Mine on the "My motorcycle" page will show dashes. However if I've stopped for over ten seconds, Engine oil temp at normal, the temp will show in green.
