So,

we are told, by the money experts, that the optimum time (sweet spot) to renew your insurance is 23 days before the policy expires

after that the old algyrivums start to see you as a chancer and because you leave things to the last minute, it reflects in your driving (utter bollox )

so been and got some quotes ... (y)

And have i had my renewal through from current insurer? have i feck, it tells me on the app, your insurance is due for renewal ... no shit sherlock!!

so where is my renewal quote??

so for your inability to get a quote to me a little over three weeks before it is due, i'm potentially going to get increased premiums !

cheers a fukin bunch :(

nothing stopping you getting a quote on a comparison site to lock in a price as they are usually valid for several days. This is what I have done today as my policy expires on 2 June. Looking at the PDF from last year, Devitt emailed the renewal notice on 15 May.
Current best price on Topcashback is to remain with Devitt with an Ageas policy. The premium has increased 68% compared to £86 last year but I have changed postcode and no longer have a garage. Still, £145 after the cashback is not bad for a 2016 R1200RS parked on the drive. Let's see what the renewal notice says next week to find out if I have to play the take out a new policy game rather than let the existing policy roll over another year.
I cross referenced on MCN Compare and got the same base price for Devitt so Topcashback wins as they are sharing the commission with a £26 rebate.

Well that was a surprise !

So quote arrived today surprisingly cheaper than last year, although the provider has changed to the bog standard company that everyone appears to be getting atm

There is the usual, if you find cheaper , please call us and see what we can do , so i may have a chat

Well that was fun ,

Renewal notice through ,

Wrong security, and wrong bike (model)

Triple Black , GS & TU really give them headaches

Turns out they quoted for a GSA adventure, TE, with only limited security

All corrected & additional security added - no change in premium (boo) but they got me on an up sell to take the compulsory excess back to £0

so it was the same overall premium as last year

I suppose that was a win

I just changed mine from the dead 790 to the new ('23) model.
Oranges and apples, I know, but its dropped from €590 to €523.
Tout Risk (fully Comp) and 0 kms breakdown/recovery and gear insurance included.
Is that high, compared to UK?
Full NCB (more than 10 years) and ancient.

Who might that be with? :)
Mine also has the same, no other riders and no Franchises.

Macif

I do have a 450 euro franchise for damage but 0 euros for broken lights

Could have been a bit cheaper if I didn’t include going to work on it, I’m even covered for occasional business use apparently
(Privé - Trajet / Travail - Déplacements professionnels ponctuels)

Just got the car through

First they said no quote. Eek!!!

Then an apology, there mistake they can quote

1 year fully comp £132, down from £135 the year before

Best i could find was £122, i may look at cash back sites just to be sure

Not sure it’s true, but heard there’s a “soft field” on the insurance online application form………it’s your profession and never verified. Apparently school teacher or accountant is top of the pops.
I’m retired anyway before you all start clambering to the high moral ground!! 🤣
Think annual mileage is another one 🤔

I’ve actually lowered my insurance cost this year. Limited the Wing to 6k a year, and took off commuting. Saves £60

It’s a pain in the ass, but it’s worth revisiting all your policies and contracts annually. Also, there are very few companies that actually do “rider policies” - most wrap up multiple policies trying to create the illusion.
For years I bounced back and forth from Carol Nash to Bennett’s. Presently still with Bennett’s.
Sky TV are by far the slippiest MF’s!!

I renewed this year, doing a bit of consolidation as my 4 bike multi bike went up from £500 odd to £800.

I’ve always had Class 1 business use, as I might occasionally ride a bike to work, but in reality that’s only once or twice a year. Saved 25% by taking that extra cover off, changed from BikeSure to Bemoto, Sorn’d a couple of bikes I won’t use this year and down to £300 for a 1290 and HP2E

I never declare any extra security like chains etc. as sod’s law says the bike will be nicked on the one time it wasn’t chained, and it didn’t make much odds anyway.

And then a nice surprise as my T120 Bonneville, insured separately, came down from £170 to £140!

Be aware that BeMoto policy excess can be high. In my case most quotes allowed zero volun5ary excess and compulsory £250-300. Bemoto excess £550-800 depending on underwriter, same bike and cover details. When asked, in fact the same underwriter as other quotes with lower excess - huh !

Got my quote through yesterday from my present broker for renewal on the 20th. £450 with their £40 fee. I paid £197 last year. Luckily I had quotes from all the comparison sites from 2 weeks ago and ended up paying £229 with Bennetts. My broker says it is because Markerstudy has pulled out of Northern Ireland.

I've been trying to buy a policy for the 1200gsa 2018. I'm based in London and could not find a company that offers at least fire&theft. A few offer third party only for circa £800. Am I crazy or the world got crazy?! I have a full ncb and years of experience!

I had the same issue last year at renewal as BeMoto refused to renew cover. There is a thread about that.

Anyway, I split my bikes (three of them were on a multipolicy) and insured my GS and DRZ on a brand new policy with Hastings.
Paying about 800 quid for both third party + fire and theft DRZ value 1500, GS value 3000.

HP insured (comp) with Swinton.

Maybe give them a ring, might worth a try.
I'd avoid comparisons sites if you have issues insuring as it would mostly be a waste of time. Call direct.
Remember this shitshow next time we vote London Mayor :)

It's one of those things that would be considered vexatory anywhere else than the UK and I really hope the regulator would... well regulate, but nope.
