I got knocked off my bike from behind, whilst stationary. 100% not my fault. Ebike were a disaster. I was fully comp and expected my bike to be fixed by my insurance who would claim off the other party. Ebike refused and stuck me with one of those aggressive claims companies who would rent me a replacement bike at £100 a day, chase the other company to fix my bike and get me compo. Then charge them a big fee for the bother. £2000 damage would end up a claim of £20k no doubt.
I declined the offer as I wasn't even allowed to use my family solicitor if I wanted a compo claim.
Ebike said tough. This is our only route. They point blank refused to fix my bike under the terms of my fully comp policy...... Why? ..... Because it was cut and dry I was not at fault and they always refer such cases to the claims company. In the end, Quinn direct, who the car driver was with, phoned me the same night of the accident. Agreed to fix my bike at the local BMW garage without questioning any of the parts or damage. Also offered me a few quid for my minor injuries, which was in my hand in six weeks. They were magnificent and just wanted to settle early and not have to pay the legal vultures. The guy said he would replace my topbox which had a tiny nick in the lid. I pointed out it was old damage caused by a builder at my house..... He insisted on replacing it as the bike was otherwise in mint condition.
After that I was heading on a big trip and was not happy being insured with ebike. My renewal was in the middle of the trip, so I tried to cancel the bike policy and renew elsewhere a few days before the trip. Ebike refused to release me from the policy unless I paid them a £70 cancelation fee.
NEVER will I recommend them. They even put the accident down as my fault. I had to fight to clear my name. Because Quinns paid me direct there was not a claim on the policy.
Rant over. I actually renewed again yesterday with Heather at Oakland in Maghera. A little over £100 for comp with a ZERO excess.

Heather from Oakland, Maghera ticked all the right boxes for me. A lot cheaper than Open & Direct.

To be fair to Open and Direct I always found the girls in the bike department very helpful. What always annoyed me was that they never gave a good price come renewal time but when I rang round and got a better price they were able to match it
I'm with ebike at the minute and after reading Betty's post I'll keep my fingers crossed till renewal time![]()
