Just got a quote of ebike and it was half the price of my current Devitts policy:D

I've a 2 bike policy with E A Davies, they were cheapest for me. Strangely, Open & Direct were cheapest for 1 bike but not 2 :nenau

Just got the GS for £90 fully comp , well happy , even if i take a seperate policey for Goldwing i will still be less than last year , there loss .

Paul BHT had a very bad experience of them last year or the year before Peter, that's why their banner advert was taken down from here.

I have been with EA Davies in Glengormley for seven or eight years now and they have been very good. I got a renewal quote of £94 for my 1150 last week.

Oakland in Maghera get a good word in this thread.

Have to say I find ebike cheap and really convenient.
4 bikes, agreed valuations, fully comp £158. Just sold one bike and bought a new one, changed the policy on line myself and no charge whatsoever.

I got knocked off my bike from behind, whilst stationary. 100% not my fault. Ebike were a disaster. I was fully comp and expected my bike to be fixed by my insurance who would claim off the other party. Ebike refused and stuck me with one of those aggressive claims companies who would rent me a replacement bike at £100 a day, chase the other company to fix my bike and get me compo. Then charge them a big fee for the bother. £2000 damage would end up a claim of £20k no doubt.

I declined the offer as I wasn't even allowed to use my family solicitor if I wanted a compo claim.

Ebike said tough. This is our only route. They point blank refused to fix my bike under the terms of my fully comp policy...... Why? ..... Because it was cut and dry I was not at fault and they always refer such cases to the claims company. In the end, Quinn direct, who the car driver was with, phoned me the same night of the accident. Agreed to fix my bike at the local BMW garage without questioning any of the parts or damage. Also offered me a few quid for my minor injuries, which was in my hand in six weeks. They were magnificent and just wanted to settle early and not have to pay the legal vultures. The guy said he would replace my topbox which had a tiny nick in the lid. I pointed out it was old damage caused by a builder at my house..... He insisted on replacing it as the bike was otherwise in mint condition.

After that I was heading on a big trip and was not happy being insured with ebike. My renewal was in the middle of the trip, so I tried to cancel the bike policy and renew elsewhere a few days before the trip. Ebike refused to release me from the policy unless I paid them a £70 cancelation fee.

NEVER will I recommend them. They even put the accident down as my fault. I had to fight to clear my name. Because Quinns paid me direct there was not a claim on the policy.

Rant over. I actually renewed again yesterday with Heather at Oakland in Maghera. A little over £100 for comp with a ZERO excess.

Insurance

Just reading about the different Insurance Co's quotations brings tears to my otherwise dry eyes. How about this quote in our "honest" South.
Carole Nash quote for three bikes:
650GS
1200RT
1200GSA
Original quote: €600
Revised quote: €425 Fully comp
Personal Insurance together with damage to M/Cycle suit and helmet an additional €80
Total cost €505
They do give European breakdown cover that i have found in the past effective. Would ye consider this cheap? We in the "honest" South have very limited options.
Fuk them.:green gri

Heather from Oakland, Maghera ticked all the right boxes for me. A lot cheaper than Open & Direct.

Open & direct (coleraine office) wouldn't let me renew my policy for 2011 as I Had " a bad working relationship" with them.

That means that when dealer in England phoned me with the registration of new bike, i had to get a new cover note, Dealer gave me a different registration so O & D had to change the number on the cover note. And for that reason they didn't want my business in 2011. No loss, got a better deal in Maghera

To be fair to Open and Direct I always found the girls in the bike department very helpful. What always annoyed me was that they never gave a good price come renewal time but when I rang round and got a better price they were able to match it :nenau
I'm with ebike at the minute and after reading Betty's post I'll keep my fingers crossed till renewal time :eek

Dave,
Make sure and speak to Heather. She's the Boss and an underwriter. Make sure and mention your previous biking qualifications...... If you mention that you hold a few & I referred you, the quote should be acceptable.

Wifey and I are spending a little over £200 each for car insurance with no excess. I don't even
really know the girl, but she rewards training with discount if that makes sense. 2 cars and a bike for less than £600... All comp, protected bonus and no excess. :aidan

Edit... Includes legal assistance and breakdown cover!

Just been quoted €332.90 Fully Comp by Carole Nash, €40.00 cheaper than Adelaide's (with whom my current policy is with) renewel quote.

I was delighted with that until I noticed what you "Sterling" guys are paying

I overheard a guy in work ranting today about Adelaide insurance. They renewed his insurance this week. They no longer issue an insurance certificate with policies.... It was either £8 or £12 if you want one. He is gonna have to renew over the phone to avoid the extra cost. Also, their contact number is no longer showing on the site :nenau

Sounds like Ryanair bike insurance to me.
