Friend from Oz has shipped his GSA to the UK prior to his arrival at the beginning of June for a few months touring Britain, Europe, Poland etc and has ferry to Iceland booked.
Please does anyone have any knowledge of insurer's that will give him cover and green card cover for the bike for the duration of his time in Europe?

I'll see if I can find the posts on a facebook group discussion the other day and re-post here. Many were having big issues obtaining it. (Hate to say it, but he may have been better trying to suss it out before shipping...) I'll get back to you

For a similar question I was recommended this company in Germany. I haven’t used them but the person who recommended had.

Sorry, he rode the bike after shipping it here last year. went home for 9 months and Tourinsure have quoted him really crazy crazy money this time around.

NFU was the best for the guy who posted (An Aussie BUT on a UK regd bike...this may be your mates big issue?)

European insurance question.
I'm sure this is not a unique scenario, but what is the solution to even the most basic insurance for a foreign licenced (Australian) driving a UK registered vehicle in Europe? The quotes I am getting so far, from uk based insurers, are absurd. We are going through Europe into the Balkans and onward past Turkey. Thanks in a advance.
And the outcome
As a follow up, NFU have been able to provide the best priced coverage that includes all EU as well as turkey Morocco and some Balkan States. Still more than I wanted to pay but caring a foreign licenced puts you at a significant disadvantage with insurers.

hasn't NFU binned bike insurance now?

I would suggest that you (or the fellow) asks the question on either:

A. An Australian centric forum

B. Horizons Unlimited

Where there might be a higher number of bods who have made (or are making) the same or similar request.

There was a massive thread on this a couple of years ago.

My Aussie mate was over, and got insured via Adrian Flux, but it was on a UK registered bike, on his name.

Mrs Berin added him to insurance for her car with no problem.

I think if it had been an Aussie registered bike his own Aussie insurer would have insured him.

That might have been tricky for the third party element of the policy. It also assumes that, having left his bike here in the UK for months, he still had an Australian policy at all.

Given the number of high end and very high end sports cars, being driven around the West End of London on Arabic country plates, one might suspect that it’s not that difficult to arrange insurance. There again, one might wonder whether their owners / drivers bother with insurance at all.

Well, if he hasn’t got insurance, it isn’t insured. But when my Aussie mate contacted his Aussie insurance company, they told him they couldn’t cover his bike in the UK as it was UK registered , but could have covered it if it was still on Aussie plates.

Then there is the solution.

Insure the Australian registered bike, with an Australian insurer and they’ll include UK and EU.
