Insurance/green card

I'm traveling out as far as the Black Sea. I've just got my green card through from NU (Aviva) via Carole Nash.

It's a green letter with a grid containing the country codes and notation saying that any crossed out are not covered. None are crossed out, even though over the phone CN told me Serbia and Montenegro were not covered.

Am I ok with this document, do you think?

The critical thing though is what the authorities in the countries you're going to make of the paperwork......you don't want to be sitting in a detention room while they try and establish if you're insured.

In general, from my experiences, I'd always want to have the recognised abbreviations (at minimum- full name of country even better but the abbreviations seem to be internationally recognised/agreed) for the countries I was in listed, in writing, on a document that's recognisable as an insurance document by the average plod .......relying on them understanding and accepting a phrase like 'all countries are covered unless crossed out on the map above' is something that would make me rather nervous

reiterate what's been said. Try going through a remote border crossing where no one gives a damn or speaks any English at all. Just make sure you have a piece of paper that lists the names, looks like an insurance certificate, and is preferably, green.

It is indeed, green, and it does also list out all the countries on te back, and it's called an International Motor Insurance Green Card with validity dates, serial numbers and stuff on it.

I checked with CN and all is, indeed, covered. Mrs Berin had to cancel her policy (via A quote but with NU/Aviva) as they would provide a green card only for a rather odd selection of countries and got cover for both her bikes, covering all the countries, for less the price for her 800GS with Carole Nash

The other traveler, insured with BMW via Devitt couldn't get any kind of green card - Devitt said they had never heard of one.
