Insurance hike

Well I have just pulled the trigger with Carole Nash. Better cover in the end than via BMW, Fully comp, multi bike policy, NCB protection, 90 days around europe and free AA cover. I put a base value of 9K on the GSA (3 yrs old now) with new replacement cost for the accessories/modifications at another £4K. 15K total yearly mileage for both bikes. Total was £233. :beerjug:

Looks like you got a good deal there buddy :thumb2
I'm still looking, keeping my options open.
Did you get your best deal on internet or did you call them.

You should remind BMW Insurance of what it says on their website:

"Additional BMW motorcycles insured at a flat rate of £10.50 per motorcycle"

as per this link: http://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/finance-and-insurance/insurance/bmw-motorrad-insurance/benefits.html

When I bought my 650XC and added it to my BMW GS policy, they tried to charge the £10.50 plus a £20 admin fee. They soon waived the admin fee when I pointed them at the BMW website and reminded them how their product works.

Hmmmmm. Well this page says different...

I had renewal through from carol nash and it was £320, went on net and got it £232, well worth goin on the Carol Nash website:thumb

I’ve just had my renewal through from Hastings Direct: £167.68, which is down £24.16 on last year. A quick look on one of the comparison sites suggest that I might save another tenner or so by shopping around, but frankly, it’s not really worth the effort at that price.

Well done Hastings Direct. :beerjug:

I was paying £200 with motorcycle direct (with a stupidly ridiculous £650 excess) last year, 6 yrs no claims on a GSA 1200 08

I've gone with Carole Nash this year for £450 !!

I wanted to cover the bikes accessories so when i asked them the crack I had to total all the accessories up, and then they had to search the providers for the additional cover, I also wanted £0 excess policy.

Zumo 660 + Cradle (£450)
Top Pannier (£200)
Tool Kit + Tyre Kit (£200)
Horn + Risers + Headlight Guard (£150)

They managed to get me fully comp with £1000 worth of bike accessories + protected no claims with £0 excess... They threw in £1000 helmet and leathers as well as the standard stuff...

I thought it was a fraction steep but i wanted piece of mind if my bike got robbed with the extras on..I suppose you get what you pay for though

Comparisons

Get used to the premiums going up.

Get used to not comparing a bod who lives in America, South Africa, France or Japan.

That's about all, other than:

Get used to shopping around. :beerjug:

Too right. Here in France I pay €586 (£500) for an all risks 'protected' policy which includes breakdown cover and includes my 50% bonus. I could shop around and save perhaps 10% but would HAVE to take my cars, house, caravan insurance etc. as well.
However on a happier note, we have NO road tax nor MOT.....yet! (and not much traffic congestion nor rain in my area)

That's the French agency system for you. Each little town seems to have its tied agents for Axa or whoever; little or no competition, as they are either mutuals or previously state owned. Nobody wants to upset the tidy applecart.

Any insurance company will take the piss if you don't move. Only mugs renew. Same with mortgages, energy bills and just about everything else where you have a 'choice'

:thumb

House , car, bike were all with AXA France

House and car increased by 150€ + 210 € this year for no previous claims

Moved the House and the car to two different French companies for beter rates and with less excess and bike will be going the same way if Axa still take the P**s on renewal.

No need to move everything to one French company for a better deal

Lucky bar stewards.

I pay £800.

Nobody is really competitive against Motorrad Insurance in my case. If the premium is cheaper, then the excess is ridiculous.
