Just had my renewal insurance from Bennetts.....

£261

Went online to Bennetts web site myself......

£210

Went comparing meerkats ( you know who I mean )

£121 :D

Guess who that quote was from..... Bennetts!

Rang them and they agreed to do it at £121 but couldn't explain why the original quote was 110% higher.:augie

Worth a check when the 'best available renewal quote' drops through the letterbox.

Roger.

Same thing for me with Swinton. Phoned up by the nice renewal guy - we can do you a good deal for £350 sir.

Interesting says me :type, your website says I can have it for £250 and I can get some cashback too.

Oh, says nice guy, how about I do it for £250 and give you the legal cover for free, saving you another £25.

Apparently the online quotes use a 'different system' to the renewals hence the difference. Nothing to do with trying to rip off loyal customers then, so that's OK :blagblah

I think it's the same for every thing now, you have to do the donkey work and look around.

Joint AA membership for me and the missus always is cheaper after the 'your web site says' call.

Having worked in insurance for a few years, this is exactly how it works. They rely on automatic renewals and you being lazy. Simple. Fekkin brilliant business model.

Customer loyalty = Higher charges.

They can stick their loyalty up their asses as they are only focussing on generating 'new business'.

With insurance:

Laziness results in a default position of customer loyalty which results in higher charges. So:

Laziness = Customer Loyalty = Higher Charges

I just tried some quotes,out of curiosity,currently I am with BMW own(Devit)
Now out of all the potential insurers if I include modifications which were only the Sat Nav which would not be on all the time only three would quote the others cited "Not with the modifications"
Now the Mods were stated as after market SO should I also include the BMW panniers and top box which were purchaed at the same time as the bike and were part of the package?

When I last renewed, I tried several insurers for a better quote. The best I could do was find one which would match the premium but it had a higher excess (and probably some other downsides). My current insurer (BMW policy) wouldn't budge at all on the renewal quote.

Most unusual. Normally a quick phone call gets a lower premium but not this year.

Yep Swindon is a shit hole full of Johnny foreigner types ..... the sick, lame and lazy of this world all on the dole claiming housing benefits and child allowance for their extended families whereas Marlborough is lovely :thumb2:augie

Best price on meerkats was £280. BMW renewal just under £200. Job done.

Just did mine from scratch having not ridden for a few years so zero no claims and was surprised to only be paying £120/year fully comp.
The company is ebikeinsurance.co.uk, typed my details into the MCN insurance comparison site and up came a list of insurers and their rates.
Worth a look.
Oh by the way 50 YO , licence for 30 years and living in the Highlands.

I live in the smoke and got a good deal from CIA who didn't rip me off on my renewal. Bennets, Carole N and BMW couldn't touch it.
