Been out of the GSA saddle since 2023. Just getting quotes on this new to me 2018 Triple Black GSA and the quotes are outrageous! Any tips on companies to insure a GSA? I did do a search but nothing really came up. Have they gone up in the last couple of years in general? Already getting my pants pulled down on other vehicles so was hoping an old GSA was a sensible choice...

How much NCB do you have?
Might consider transferring from car?! lol

Hastings have been a good option for me and others this year.
London seems to be a big burden as a location though.

Thanks both. I have a 14 years NCD but that's on my Rnine T which was annoyingly difficult to get insurance on. I have an 1100GS with Hastings and the RnineT with BeMoto so will call them both tomorrow.

Multibike policy worked for me when I realised that you can only have your NCD on one policy at once.

you can build NCD on separate policies. I have 2x full NCD, one earned on an Ageas policy from Devitt and the other via Axa from Bennetts. The latter is "on hold" as I only have one bike now, and that NCD remains valid for 2 years after this policy was cancelled.

Do you have a garage or access to one? As that made a world of difference for me?

Ive a multibike policy with Bikesure, 2023 1250GSA , 2019 Himalayan and 2002 XJR1300. They were by far the best i could find.
I heard Markerstudy and others pulled out of bike insurance which pushed prices up.

Markerstudy is one of the biggest providers of motorcycle insurance through various brands. They took over Atlanta which owns the brokers Swinton and Carole Nash. All Zenith and Markerstudy policies have been swapped to their West Bay brand as they renewed after Sept 2021.

Axa has left the UK motorcycle market. I had a policy from them in 2022 but they would not renew when it expired in 2023. LV= no longer sells motorcycle insurance via their direct to consumer channel since the Allianz takeover, but you can buy a Highway branded policy from brokers which is another Allianz brand.

Presumably, LV/Allianz & Markerstudy decided they wanted to keep filthy motorcyclists away from the parent or primary brands and only sell via brokers using sockpuppet brands.

Hastings have always been good to me - we shall see what happens at renewal time.

Thanks everyone! The £800 odd quotes thankfully beaten massively by BeMoto. I added the GSA on for £172 (runs to august). Phew!

Did a quote check with CN having sold my r9 T Urban for something smaller. Refused to quote on a V Strom 650. Quote for the new Honda GB350 s
a bargain at £850 !!!

Just swapped from honda 73 reg nt1100 at £380 with bennetts to 19reg 1250gs underwriters would not cover me so had to take out a new policy with bennetts, Lost 10 months ncb and paid £690 for the pleasure....won't be using them again.

Hello, yes, in Cornwall….. the chap is in London, so not comparable. A bit like house values.

Its not NCB, its location.
@crotchrocket: same issue here. I insure 3 bikes on one policy with Devitt(Allianz) and 4 bikes and a car with Howden. All bikes garaged, car on street in west London. Total bill is about £4k+. One of the two gives me a house insurance for free. Free stuff is more often than not crap, so i discount that.

GS/As of any recency are uninsurable on their own as main/solo bikes on compare sites for street parking in London.

Try Howden or google “specialist motorbike insurance london”. Our hobby is expensive for where we live, but its a free world. We could go to Greece or Ireland or Denmark where fully comp on a GSA is €200, but the bike itself is €50k. Yes 50k for a new 1300gsa in Athens as we type.

In a way, I'm glad it's not just me wincing at the rising cost of motorcycle insurance, but Bennetts trying to push the price up from £321 last year to £555 for a renewal this year, a roughly 73% increase, seems a bit steep - especially as nothing has changed at my end, other than being a year older (and hopefully wiser). Decades of all the things like NCB, so not as if I've suddenly become a big risk... Are we all wrapping our machines around lampposts or something? Or are they all getting nicked? What's going on...? ...and that's the provinces, not London (though still Thames Water's area of operation, the robbing :censor:, who have pushed their prices up by 37% for this April...).

Rant over... 😡

Now that we’ve identified the problem……….maybe Mailbox Express in Cornwall or keep your bike at dear old aunt Flo’s in Devon??!! 😜
