I have moved this post and edited what were the two unrelated questions into separate threads.

==========

Hello everyone,

I'm planning a trip to Morocco 10-14 days in October 2024.
Will be taking the Plymouth - Santander ferry, riding through Spain etc.
It will be my first trip to Morocco so will be on road / tarmac.
I've been to Spain a few times on the bike already (Picos, Pyrenees etc).

Medical insurance

I will need suitable medical insurance….

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Jules.

Scroll through the many recommendations given in this dedicated section. You’ll find an insurer that suits you and your needs, I’m sure.

Listen to Crumbles.....a quick read of this will focus the mind.

Last time I was there, one of the chaps got lost in the desert then while trying to find the rest of us hooned off the top of a dune, landed badly and ended up under his bike with a broken arm and a broken collar bone. Of course his phone didn’t work, so he was feeling a bit anxious. 5 minutes later a local popped up over the dune, walked over, picked the bike up off him, and told him to get on the back. He then expertly navigated the bike (KTM400) with the chap on the back to a camp, where through some kind of telepathy they knew which camp we were at, so sent a rider on a Docker over to us, a couple of hours away, to let us know they had our missing rider. The truck was duly despatched, bike stuck in the back and rider taken to hospital where he was patched up. He then got the bus back to Marrakesh to lie up for a few days while we got back.
Hospital fees were about £100.

If you get global travel insurance it should cover you but read the small print with respect to motorbikes.

Bear in mind the medical cover just pays your bill. If you end up under your bike somewhere it’s up to you to sort out the rescue.

If you want actual rescue and medevac try Global Rescue, but you’ll still need medical cover as they’ll facilitate the rescue but won’t pay the bill.

Voyager used to do cover for motorcyclists, but also Tesco was pretty good. We used M&S for a few years, and cover with a bank account like Nationwide or a credit card may cover you.

Hello, I have gone for ... Big Cat Travel Insurance

If you add in an "activity pack" it covers you for motorcycles over 125cc

I am not planning off road on this trip.

Recommended by these guys who seem to have "tested" the insurance ... !
